TomTom Start Sat Nav System

When lost in a car, the vast majority of men would rather not ask for directions. It would seem we would rather spend the time and find our own way. The reason? Pride! Relying on somebody else telling you where to go is not a ‘manly’ thing to do. This was the case before satellite navigation systems (Sat Nav’s).

The TomTom Start Sat Nav System is the perfect item for a novice technology user. It has been built to be very easy to use and includes full maps for the UK and Republic of Ireland. The EasyPort mount, that attaches your Sat Nav to the window, folds into the unit allowing it to be easily carried rather than left in the car to be stolen.

One major advantage of the TomTom Start is the IQ Routes system, which can be helpful to avoid ‘rush-hour’ traffic by suggesting alternative routes depending on the time of day. Although the IQ Routes system is available, this Sat Nav does not allow the user to choose to avoid motorways or toll roads on their route like the higher priced models do. This could prove to be a problem to new drivers or those who are uncomfortable with motorway driving.

The TomTom Start is also customizable, with a variety of skins and bags available, however these are not provided along with this package.

If you are looking for a gift for somebody who isn’t very good with gadgets but would benefit from owning a satellite navigation system, then the TomTom Start is most likely the best starting point. At just £79.99 (with free postage) it falls in line with the price of lower quality brands, yet still holds on to what makes TomTom a market leader.
